SEQUEL Software, a Help/Systems company specializing in data access, business intelligence, and business reporting software for IBM i systems, has released a new version of its graphical interface, SEQUEL ViewPoint. From simple ad hoc queries to executive dashboards to providing information via a web browser, SEQUEL delivers System i data in flexible formats.

The newest release of SEQUEL ViewPoint (10.13.087) brings data access and business reporting to the next level with powerful new Script Views. Combining the power of a script with the versatility of a view, Script Views opens the door to greater output options for data reporting. Similar to a script, a script view can process a multiple step request. Unlike a standard script, a simple right-click within the ViewPoint Explorer allows the user to easily display, print, and create files.

"25% of the reports we run require multiple views, and therefore require scripts" said Misty Jordan, a longtime SEQUEL customer. "So many of these requests required a complete redesign of the view because we couldn't embed a script into a dashboard. Script Views allow us to add our existing reports to a dashboard, without redesigning them. I'm convinced it will be a great help!"

With SEQUEL ViewPoint 10.13.087, users can:

  • Process scripts faster than ever for dashboards
  • Join data from multiple databases together in one project
  • Add a script view to a dashboard and display the result

The latest incarnation of SEQUEL ViewPoint provides scripts with a dramatic improvement in processing speed to all users. The Script View enhancements are available to those customers with SEQUEL version R10M26.
