The 10–14 hour course covers TCP/IP fundamentals, applications, configuring and managing TCP/IP, and more.

Do you need to learn about IPv6? Manta Technologies has just updated its TCP/IP in the IBM i Environment series to cover this newest version of the Internet Protocol. This Manta series takes roughly 10–14 hours to complete and contains the following courses:

  • TCP/IP Fundamentals
  • TCP/IP Applications
  • Configuring and Managing TCP/IP
  • Managing TCP/IP Using System i Navigator
  • TCP/IP in the IBM i Environment Competency Exam

The first two courses of this series should be taken by all IBM i professionals who will be using TCP/IP protocols, applications, or related products. The remaining courses are intended for the system administrator responsible for configuring and managing TCP/IP on an IBM i system.

The following are among the new topics that were added to the series:

  • IPv6 addresses
  • IPv6 address types, including loopback, unicast, anycast, private, broadcast, and link-local
  • The IPv6 neighborhood discovery and router solicitation processes
  • Automatic address configuration
  • Setting up IPv6 on an IBM i system
  • Why IPv6 eliminates the need for ARP and DHCP
  • How the use of IPv6 affects existing IBM i applications
As with all Manta courses, current online customers with a license to the TCP/IP in the IBM i Environment series have already received the updates. This occurred automatically and at no additional charge as soon as the updates became available. If you are interested in bringing your TCP/IP skills up to date, visit the Manta website. Or, contact Manta at (800) 40-MANTA (800- 406-2682). International customers can call (303) 862-4562.
