Port Sharing

If you have people dialing into the office using an ASCII workstation controller (and the controller has only one port set up), you could use a feature of the ASCII WSC called port sharing. It allows you to have different ASCII displays with different device types and physical parameters. In addition, the displays can share the same port at different times without manually creating a configuration description for each new display. You don't have to be concerned about the configuration of the remote site; through the same port, you can connect at different speeds with PC Support, VT100, or 3164. The system will recreate the device (if different) with the proper type and physical parameters. To enable port sharing, use the following values when creating your device.

 CRTDEVDSP DEVD(xxx) + DEVCLS(*LCL) + TYPE(*CALC) + MODEL(*ASCII) + LINESPEED(*CALC) + WORDLEN(*CALC) + PARITY(*CALC)
