Where Did That Output Go?

On a heavily used system, it is easy to lose track of output now and again. That report you expected to be printed may have gone to an output queue that has been held or that is not attached to a printer. Then again, the report may have printed already and been taken away by someone else!

You probably already know that you can locate your output while it is still on the AS/400 by using the Work with Spooled Files (WRKSPLF) command. But WRKSPLF can also be used to display what has already printed, when it printed and where.

First, set up your job accounting environment on your AS/400:

 CHGSYSVAL SYSVAL(QACGLVL) + VALUE(*PRINT) CRTJRNRCV JRNRCV(QGPL/JOBACG0001) + TEXT('Job accounting journal + receiver') CRTJRN JRN(QSYS/QACGJRN) + JRNRCV(QGPL/JOBACG0001) + TEXT('Job accounting journal')

On the WRKSPLF screen, use F21 if needed to ensure that your assistance level is *BASIC. Then use F6 to display information about spooled files that have already printed.
