I would like to illustrate an alternative to Kenneth E. Fordham's suggestion in "Forcing Records to Disk" in TechTalk (MC, December 1994). Instead of changing the FRCRATIO keyword for a file, the Override Database File (OVRDBF) command can be utilized. It also has a FRCRATIO keyword that would accomplish the same task within the current job stream, leaving the file's force ratio set to *NONE so the system can retain its default blocking function for all other programs and queries.
