Quantum computers are expected to play a crucial role in Machine Learning (ML) and AI. But qubit counts and more-sophisticated algorithms alone will not deliver quantum advantage. Toolkits and a unified experience are needed to bring it to the masses.

Think of Quantum computing as a new kind of computing, using the same physical rules that atoms follow in order to manipulate information. At this fundamental level, quantum computers execute quantum circuits—like a computer's logical circuits but now using the physical phenomena of superposition, entanglement, and interference to implement mathematical calculations out of the reach of even the most advanced supercomputers.

We’ve all heard that statement over and over for the last few weeks, but what does it really mean? Regular updates from politicians and health department personnel. Constant news media coverage. Minimal movement away from your residence. Social/physical distancing. Working from home.

In the world of IBM i transformation, time may not be your friend. RPG resource availability is at an all-time low, and forecasts do not look promising for any resurgence. That fact, combined with the reality that a full-blown transformation initiative can take several years on average, simply means that putting off aggressive digital transformation activity is no longer an option for most organizations.

Without People, Technology doesn’t matter!

There’s a great book called ‘The Technology Fallacy – How People Are The Real Key To Digital Transformation’ that anyone considering a transformation initiative should consider reading. The book doesn’t focus on technology directly in regard to transformation, rather it speaks to the organizational change required in order to harness the power of technology. Stated simply, without people, technology doesn’t matter. The book addresses a key concept of digital maturity that organizations need to reach in order to fully leverage new technologies. This is such an important concept for IBM i organizations.
